TESTIMONIALS:

(The) kids were so excited right before they went on.
They got scared and some kids kept saying "all my friends are going to laugh at me". I felt bad but kept telling them the fact that they chose to participate out of all 100s of other kids makes you guys different. And that alone make you guys the starz ;) Rain (bass guitar facilitator) and I kept pumping them up and they were OK after a while. I thought the second time around was much better. (they performed before about 100 peers TWICE!)
I was surprised how concentrated they were! You know how hard to keep children interested in things for a second! They stayed on it for 5 hours! I was soooo proud of them! They were amazing angelz!! Some of the best kids I've ever met
We all had fun and they only get better the more and more they do it! Rayko

(from the facilitator who taught the vocal parts to 3 kids, ages 11-14))

Matt & Team,

Thank you for bringing your "Music or Lose It" program to the Burbank Boys and Girls club. My son (Justin Torvinen) loves music and really enjoyed being a rock star for a day. Your program is a great self esteem builder, as my son was lead singer for the song he was able to get up in front of a group of people and express himself in a way he has never done before. He would really love to do this again!Thank you,Crystle Torvinen

Crystal, the Mom of one of the singers (Justin, the dark haired one) at the Boys and Girls Club MOLI event, wants MOLI for Justin's BDAY party. Justin, one of the kids that was really into music, and the other singer ( the one that was terrified and did NOT want to perform the song on the 2nd and 3rd take) according to Crystal, now LOVES IT AND WANTS TO DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN! But wait, it even gets better...he has been wanting to take piano lessons for such a long time, but there had been so many excuses in the family why he never started. Well, he is now taking lessons, which started right after MOLI, and has been enjoying them ever since !!!!!

MOLI IS WAY TOO COOL !!!!!

In the modern world where kids have far more then we did as children it is hard to find a new and existing experience for youth. We take them to Magic Mountain and the next day they complain they have not been anywhere.
Well, after a day of being Rock Stars, they came home and said it was "the best day of their life, NO KIDDING!".
My youngest who never showed an interest (in Music) has a birthday coming up and he has made it very well known that he WANTS A BASS GUITAR

Thanks for creating a magical day for them- Mike Rick

(he got the bass guitar and amp and now jams with his older brother who plays drums. ed.)

Here’s what the Program Director (Nor Calevera) at the Boys and Girls Club of Burbank had to say about what the kids there said:

Jennifer (guitar player) – “It was the coolest thing I have ever done. I feel like if I were to be pushed off a building I would just float away. I will be smiling for a long time”.

Greg (drummer) – “I didn't know I could play that well!”

(Greg and Jennifer are thinking of starting their own band.)

****************************************************************

Many of the staff and members did not know that they (the “created that day” kid band) had only been playing for a couple of hours. A few parents thought the kids had been playing for a while and that you guys (the REAL musicians) were their parents.

Many of the staff thought it was an awesome idea and when they saw the results were just awestruck.

From Glen in Eagle Rock, CA:

Diane (his wife, the mom of one girl at the MOLI workshop) was calling me every ½ hour to tell me how great it was!
The day after, Erin was sitting at her piano, working out her own music. I haven’t seen her do that in years.
She does her lessons and that’s it. Now she’s writing. She wants to write songs.
We went to party, and Erin was talking about your music class, a jam session ensued for 2 hours.
The guy who lived there and was playing guitar hasn’t got the guitar out in 2 years says his wife.

Hi Matt sorry I haven't called you back. I'm a bad, busy girl. How's it
going anyway? Do you have the video ready yet? Erin still is talking about
the experience.

Thank you for allowing me he opportunity to participate with your group
of musicians and young people.. When you asked if I would like to assist by
filming your day of schooling, I figured another day of earplugs. What I
found were very talented and patient musicians who took the time and care to
help these young people. While going from group to group filming, I could
see the concentration on the faces of the young people, and as the day wore
on this looked changed to determination, and at the end of the day it was a
look of complete confidence and joy.

My two grandsons who were also fortunate enough to have been invited to your
"special day" and later when they saw their father they said-" this was the
funnest day we have ever had!"

Matt, I sincerely hope you continue this great training for the young people
of our community as music is very important in our daily lives. Just an
after thought, your list of trainees could be limitless- i.e. what about
the teens, and us old folks. Most of us have not had the chance to play
(maybe just a little) with a band.

If I may help in the future, please do not hesitate to call.
Have a great day
LaRon
